Long Island Top 10 lacrosse rankings

4/2 week 1 rankings

1. Chaminade [3-0] - The Flyers are loaded with talent and have beaten one of the top teams in
Maryland already and crushed St John the Baptist. Led by the best Goalie on Long Island within Andrew Bonafede the Flyers have been tough to score on and the offense is filled with firepower and a load of D1 commits. Flyers have a tough test Wednesday against Massapequa who is a similar team

2. Ward Melville [2-0]- The Patriots are the defending Class A State Champs and return a lot of talent from that same team. They are seeded number 1 in Suffolk Class A and have jumped out to a 2-0 record including a win over the top team in Massachusetts. The Patriots are expected to make another run at a state title

3. Smithtown West [3-0]- Seeded 2nd in Suffolk Class A the Bulls made a straight up statement to start the season by beating Garden City and Smithtown East. Smithtown West possess the best defense on Long Island as they locked down GC and Smithtown East to 3 goals each. The Bulls offense is averaging 13 goals per game.

4. Massapequa [2-0]- A very experienced group and the defending Nassau Class A champs started off the season right with 2 quality wins. First, they crushed Carey then went on the road to beat Manhasset in Overtime. The Chiefs have a high powered offense and they also have the best defenseman on long island in Kenny Brower. They have a hard matchup with Top Ranked Chaminade on Wednesday in a top 5 showdown

5. Garden City [1-2]- 2 losses to Smithtown West and Calvert Hall is nothing to be ashamed of. The Trojans made a statement win over Syosset. The offense showed it was their hitting double digits on the braves while still holding them to 5 goals. All though they dropped the last 2 it was two very talented squads. The Trojans still posses a very stingy defense as usual.

6. St Anthony's [0-2]- The Friars dropped their first two games of the year to national powers Yorktown and Delbarton. The Friars are very young this year but are easily one of the most loaded teams nationally. Led by a very good offense They have one of the most loaded midfield units and the number 1 ranked sophomore in the nation within Brennan O'neil leading the Attack. The Friars look to bounce back against Manhasset on Wednesday

7. Syosset [1-1]- The Braves dropped their first game of the year to a highly touted Garden City team. They would come back from that loss and would snap Cold Spring Harbor's 29 game win streak. They won 11-5 on the road in impressive fashion. Syosset always has a strong attack unit, this year its JP Lanning running the show the Brown commit. Syosset's next 3 games can't much harder they play New Cannan [conneticut], Manhasset, and St Anthony's.

8. Cold Spring Harbor [1-1]- The Seahawks were one of the top teams in the nation a year ago. This year they lost their 29 game win streak to Syosset. They still have returned talent and up in coming talent on their roster. They are still 3 time defending New York state champs. They'll have to find guys who can replace the load of the senior class they lost. The Seahawks are still the favorite in Nassau Class C. They take a trip to Virginia for their next 2 games.

9. Manhasset [1-2]- The Indians are young and dropped 2 games to CSH and Massapequa. They earned a big win over section 1 power John Jay. They have a stingy defense keeping its first 3 opponents in single digits. The offense is very balanced but still looking for guys who can replace the scoring load Steven Schinder and Kevin Mack had for the Indians a year ago. Manhasset has St Anthony's and Syosset up next.

10. Half Hollow Hills West [1-0]- Considered to be the favorites in Suffolk Class B this year started off the season with a bang. They beat Rocky Point on the road 13-12 in thrilling fashion. Rocky Point was considered to be the top team in the division by some people but Half Hollow Hills West took the win over the Eagles. They have several guys who run the show including sophomore Justin Brown committed to Michigan. They play Port Washington on Saturday in an interesting crossover game

Honorable Mention- SWR, Farmingdale
