PART 2: Sleeper 2024/2025 Lacrosse Prospects you have to watch this season

We are just one month away from the start of the high school lacrosse season. Here is part two of some sleeper players that could takeover during the high school season. These 2024 and 2025 prospects are coming off of terrific off seasons and they are must watch players.

2025 Will Cawley (Syosset)- The athletic defenseman showed he's gonna be a force in Nassau Class A for the next three years. He showed a little bit of everything in his game. Cawley is a great cover defender but he also is terrific off ball. He has a great sense of when to double and he will come up with important ground balls. As he gets older, watch out for the physicality in his game to really start increasing.

2024 Jack Tully (Chaminade)- Like most sophomores at Chaminade, Tully was on the JV squad. Now as a junior he'll be a huge addition to the varsity team. He is easily one of the most athletiic players on the island. After watching him this fall as a running back, I can promise you that he's bringing incredible speed to this Flyers team. He is a nightmare for short stick defensive midfielders and he'll also impact the game on the face-off wings and clearing the ball.

2025 James Bruno (Hills)- When playing against Bruno, you better know where he is off ball. He is a serious threat to catch and finish from anywhere. He showed his scoring ability during his freshman year and the LILJ Winter League. Bruno has tremendous lacrosse IQ and terrific hands. Expect him to be a great finisher for a Hills team with amazing offensive creators.

2024 Carmelo Pace (Smithtown West)- He'll be one of the top short stick defensive midfielders on Long Island. His quickness and physicality makes him incredibly tough to beat, along with his ability to take the ball away. Pace is effective on clears and he is an asset that instantly makes a defense better. He is going to be an old school two way middle for the Bulls this season and his presence will be felt all over the field.

2025 Drew Walendowski (East Islip)- It'll be Waelndowski taking over in net this spring for East Islip. When watching him this past summer, Redman fans should be thrilled. He was one of the most athletic 2025 goalies I saw. He made some acrobatic saves that helped shift momentum when his team needed it. He went against elite shooters all summer long and you can expect him to make an immediate impact this season.

2024 Maclin Keyser (Bayport-Blue Point)- The Bayport product has "breakout season" written all over him. He had 14 goals as a sophomore but the way he was shooting the ball this summer, that will increase. Keyser has a cannon of a righty shot and he places the ball very well. I expect him to be a terrific catch and shoot player for the Phantoms and don't be surprised when he creates opportunities on his own.

2025 Owen Wuchte (Garden City)- Last season, Wuchte showed that he was a reliable defensive midfielder. He played well on varsity just as a freshman. He wasn't the biggest defensive midfielder, but he had elite toughness. He gets into players hands when they dodge and he'll force them to move the ball. Expect him to be great in the clearing game during his sophomore year

2024 John Flynn (Kings Park)- Over the summer I was amazed with the impact Flynn had with Rebels LC. There were times where he absolutely took over games. He can turn on the jets and zip past defenders down the alley. Flynn has a great shot on the run with either hand. The athletic midfielder was already second on the team in goals as a sophomore, the Fairfield commit will be a leader for Kings Park during his junior year.

PART 1: Sleeper 2024/2025 Lacrosse Prospects you have to watch this season

Long Island is filled with amazing division 1 prospects. The class of 2024 and 2025 will shine this upcoming season. Take a look at these players who are looking to take the next step this high school season.

2025 Dylan Martini (Wantagh)- He had a big year as a freshman on Varsity. Martini did a good job creating space from his defenders and being an elite inside finisher. He is a quick attackman who can also make terrific feeds. During his sophomore year you can expect him to take the next step as an offensive player.

2024 Michael Felicetti (Kellenberg)- The Firebirds lost Adrian Nowalk, but Felecetti is gonna be the next elite goal scorer for Kellenberg. The crafty lefty was an amazing finisher in transition. He‘s gonna show off his dodging skills this upcoming season and will increase his production.

2025 James Pagano (Commack)- He has to be one of the biggest breakout candidates this spring. Pagano was a stud this past summer. His shooting ability is incredible and he does a great job creating space for himself off ball to be an elite scorer. He'll form a tremendous duo with Brandan Berozi this spring for Commack.

2024 Jack Morrison (Manhasset)- The Indians defense stepped up late last season to win a state title. Morrison was a player who rose to the occasion. Just as a sophomore he played terrific on the big stages.  Now the big and physical defender has plenty of experience and is in for a huge junior year.

2025 Dylan Baumgarth (Northport)- The Tigers keep getting studs at the faceoff X. The next star will be the sophomore Baumgarth. Long Island will know who he is after this spring. He’s one of the top 2025 FOGO’s in America. Look out for him to be a game changer just as a sophomore.

2024 Nicholas Uzakewicz (Happaugue)- The lefty attackman had a huge sophomore year with 55 points. Uzakewicz is a smooth player with a terrific IQ. He does a great job dodging with his head up and finding his teammates. He leads the way over there at Hauppauge and makes players around him better.

2024 Quinn Reynolds (Northport)- Pound for pound one of the toughest players in Long Island lacrosse. Reynolds can either play short stick defensive middie or LSM. He is a ground ball machine for the Tigers. He had a big summer for Team 91 Wolfpack and he is the definition of a grinder.

2025 Matt Triolo- (John Glenn/Elwood)- Elwood is a team that won’t get talked about by a lot of people, but elite 2025 prospect Matt Triolo will help change that narrative. Triolo had 63 goals just as a freshman. The lefty attackman already has great size and his ability to take over games is impressive. He’ll be a primetime national recruit.

10 Must Watch Offensive Duo's in 2023

The talent on offense all over Long Island is undeniable. There is a ton of loaded teams this upcoming season featuring some of the dodgers and goal scorers in the country. Read about some special duo's that you'll have to watch this season.

Shoreham-Wading River- Liam Kershis (Duke) and Alec Gregorek (Navy)

This attack duo will look to repeat an incredible showing last season. Liam Kershis makes an argument as the top 2024 lacrosse player on Long Island. Despite being a little undersized, his quickness, IQ and playmaking ability makes him special. He’ll be able to find Alec Gregorek, who's one of the top scorers on Long Island. He finished with 60 goals last year as he has a knack for finding the back of the net. Both can create on their own, but look for their teamwork to torch opposing defenses

St Anthony’s- Owen Duffy (North Carolina) and Jack Spiedell (Harvard)

This is one of the most exciting combinations in America. Duffy is flat out one of the best dodgers in the country. He is very flashy and has tremendous feeding ability. It'll be tough to find a defender in high school lacrosse that can keep him in check. He’ll be finding Jack Spiedell for a ton of goals this spring. Spidell is one of the top finishers in the 2023 class. He has silky hands and scores key goals for the Friars. Don’t be surprised when he shows off his dodging ability as well.

Garden City- Stevie Finell (Duke) and Jack Archer (Lehigh)

These are some of the most clutch midfielders on Long Island. Finell is one of the most athletic players in the nation. He is a force dodging down the alley or coming across on a sweep. He had timely goals for the Trojans last season including the game winner in the Woodstick Classic. His linemate Jack Archer is the definition of a big game player. He had a stellar junior year which included a hat trick in the state title and putting up 7 goals vs Syosset

Manhasset- Jack Peterson (Harvard) and Liam Connor (Colgate)

This midfielder-attack duo will be one you’ll have to see in person. Jack Peterson is a special kind of athlete. His first step is explosive and he has incredible north-south speed. He was unstoppable towards the end of his junior year. He’ll use his vision to find one of the best goal scorers on Long Island within Liam Connor. The Colgate bound senior has some of the best IQ on Long Island.. He is an excellent off ball player for Manhasset, as he is always in the right spot. Connor catches everything and has become an elite finisher

Bayport-Blue Point- J.J Ailleo (Navy) and Ben Morris (Johns Hopkins)

These two incredible lefties form a fire and ice duo. JJ Ailleo is one of the toughest players to match up from a physicality standpoint. At 6’2 and over 200 pounds he can bulldoze through defenders or run past them. He has a cannon of a shot and can also find his teammates. The other lefty sniper, Ben Morris, is a natural goal scorer. He has a very accurate shot and has the ability to score at will. Morris had a huge summer for Team 91 Wolfpack and it looks like he will have a major breakout during his junior season.

Chaminade- Gavin Creo (Richmond) and Brendan Riley (Amherst)

One of the best pure athletes on the island within Gavin Creo will be the leader for the Flyers. Creo is one of the quickest attackmen on the island. He gave defenders so many issues last spring and summer. He also displayed his ability as an elite catch and shoot guy. He’s joined by the another senior within Brendan Riley. He is a crafty lefty that dominated all of last summer and this winter. He'll be an amazing finisher for the Flyers, as he has a rocket of a shot. Amherst might've came away with the biggest steal in the 2023 class for any division 3 school.

Mount Sinai- Lucas Laforge (Michigan) and Jake Spallina (Syracuse)

Despite losing Joey Spallina, this Mustangs offense is in good hands. Lucas Laforge is one of the best lefty attackman on Long Island. His shot is absolutely incredible, he displays a really quick release and is such an unpredictable shooter. Jake Spallina is gonna impact the game all over the field. He’ll be a terrific FOGO, but on offense he’ll be a serious threat. He's a terrific athlete with a great shot on the run. It looks like him and Laforge will put up a ton of goals this season.

St Anthony’s- Jackson Greene (Harvard) and Jack Ponzio (Navy)

Another incredible duo for the Friars offense. The last two years these players have been dominant at the midfield. Greene is an extremely talented dodger and is also a dangerous perimeter shooter. His teammate Ponzio is a problem for defenses. He can dodge from anywhere on the field and create opportunities. His physicality and goal scoring ability is something that will be on display throughout his senior year.

Hills- Andrew Cosentino (Towson) and Anthony Raio (Class of 2025)

This Hills lacrosse team is on the rise and this could be the year they take the next step. Andrew Cosentino has been an excellent midfielder the past two seasons. He led the team with 57 points doing it by scoring and feeding. He’ll be joined by an electric 2025 prospect within Anthony Raio. The youngster has dominated since his 8th grade year and he could be in for a huge sophomore year. Raio can score in a variety of ways and he forces a defense to slide very early or put an LSM on him. He'll be one of the top recruits in America.

Ward Melville- Niko Barbero (Siena) and Nick Bruckner (Harvard)

This duo has the opportunity to have a special breakout year. Barbero is a guy who simply always creates separation. His dodging ability from either at X or the wing will destroy defenses. He has a big talented midfielder within Nick Bruckner alongside him. Bruckner is a big and tough player who is so tough to guard downhill. He uses his size and speed to his advantage and he is someone who can takeover games this spring.
